A Mayer rod is a tool used to apply coatings on substrates such as paper and films. It evenly distributes the coating across the substrate surface by precise extrusion through grooves on its surface, utilizing the self-leveling properties of the coating to achieve a consistent wet film thickness.

Precautions for Using Meyer Rods

1. Ensure the rod seat groove is clean before mounting the meyer rod on the machine;

2. Ensure the surface of the meyer rod (especially the bottom of grooves) is clean and free from residues when mounting it on the machine;

3. Be cautious of surface bumps, scratches when mounting and dismounting the meyer rod;

4. Pay attention to preventing bending when dismounting the meyer rod (for lengths greater than L2000mm, have more than two people cooperate).

Meyer Rod Maintenance

Surface cleaning of Meyer rod

(1).Regular cleaning

Special coatings require cleaning agents.

Step 1: Soak in cleaner;

Step 2: Clean with a regular brown bristle brush (clean along the grooves); Step 3: Clean with a specialized Meyer brush (clean along the grooves); Step 4: Rinse with clean water;

Step 5: Dry with a lint-free cloth (wipe along the direction of the grooves).

(2)Regular paint removal

Step 1. Rinse with clean water;

Step 2. Clean with a regular bristle brush (following the grooves);

Step 3. Clean with a special brush for Meyer rods (following the grooves);

Step 4. Rinse with clean water;

Step 5. Dry with a lint-free cloth (wipe along the direction of the grooves).

Ultrasonic cleaner cleaning

Step 1. Put the Meyer rod into the cleaning machine;

Step 2. Add the cleaning agent (ensuring the Meyer rod is fully submerged); 3. Start the automatic cleaning cycle on the cleaning machine;

Step 3. Remove the Meyer rod;

Step 4. Rinse with clean water;

Step 5. Dry with a lint-free cloth (wiping along the grooves).

Store Meyer rod methods

1. Place it in a plastic tube or paper cylinder and let it hang naturally vertically;

    2. Place it in a plastic tube or paper cylinder and lay it flat on the platform.
