Screw pitch

Screw pitch refers to the distance between adjacent threads on a screw. It is typically measured in millimeters or inches and is used to determine the tightness or looseness of the threads on the screw.

Screw lead

Screw lead is the linear distance that a screw advances with one complete turn.It is essentially the screw pitch multiplied by the number of threads on the screw.Lead is also measured in millimeters or inches and is used to determine how far a screw will move with each rotation.

Screw thread starts

Screw thread starts refers to the number of independent threads on the screw shaft;the number of screw starts can be observed by the naked eye.

Relationship between screw lead and pitch

Single start thread screw:lead= pitch

Two starts thread screw: lead=2*pitch

Four starts thread screw: lead=4*pitch

Inclusion, lead= pitch multiplied by the number of thread starts.

For example,if screw thread start is 3,pitch is 2mm,the screw lead= 2*3=6mm.
