Size/power ratio: How large do you want to build? Does the robot need to navigate in a narrow place, or starting power is more important than motor size?
Loading limitation: The driver type you choose for your robot requires enough torque to handle the load expected to bear.
Accuracy: What is the tolerance for abnormal movement when the robot is moving? Do you need an electric motor that provides instant, accurate error correction?
Reliability: How well staffed is your maintenance department? How often do you want to perform maintenance on your robot?
Resource consumption: Not every robot motor is as good to the environment as other robots. Stepper motors consume power even in standby mode, but sometimes they are the only option.
