How to achieve accurate position and speed control of linear actuator?

The electric linear actuator is a linear motion device,usually composed of a motor,a transmission mechanism and a guiding system,which is used to achieve the linear motion of the object.To achieve accurate position and speed control,the following methods can be used:

●Position control:

(1) encoder feedback: The encoder installed on the device can monitor the position of the device in real time and feed the position information to the control system.The control system can accurately control the position of the device by comparing it with the target position.


(2)Closed-loop control:The closed-loop control system is used to compare the position information fed back by the encoder with the target position set,and control the motor drive to adjust the position of the device.Common closed-loop control methods include PID control.


(3)Position sensor:In addition to encoders,other position sensors can also be used,such as laser sensors,photoelectric sensors,etc.,to monitor the position of the device.


● Speed control:

(1)Frequency converter control:The frequency converter is used to control the speed of the motor,so as to achieve the speed control of the electric push rod.The frequency converter can adjust the frequency and voltage of the motor and control the speed of the motor.


(2)PWM control:The use of pulse width modulation (PWM) signals to control the motor drive.By changing the duty cycle of the PWM signal,the average output power of the motor can be controlled,so as to achieve speed control.


(3)Closed-loop speed control: Similar to position control,the closed-loop speed control system can be used to compare the speed feedback with the set target speed,and achieve accurate speed control by adjusting the motor drive.


(4)Speed sensor:Install speed sensors,such as photoelectric sensors or Hall effect sensors,to monitor the speed of the device in real time and feed the information to the control system.


(5)Limit switch: The limit switch is set within the motion range of the device,which is used to detect whether the push rod has reached the predetermined speed,and stop the movement when the limit is reached.


In practical applications,a combination of control methods and sensors is often used to achieve accurate position and speed control.Choosing the right control strategy for the specific application,combined with the right sensors and controllers,ensures stable and accurate movement of the electric push rod.
