As the core component of equipment transmission, ball screws, once experiencing abnormal noises, jamming, or a decline in precision, will directly affect production efficiency. Today, we will share the causes and solutions of three common faults.
1. Abnormal noise: Mostly caused by lubrication issues or foreign objects
Reason: Grease has dried up and impurities such as metal debris have mixed in;
Solution: Clean the surface of the screw rod, replace with suitable lithium-based grease, and install a protective cover to prevent foreign objects from entering.
2. Stuttering: Focus on checking installation and wear
Reason: Installation alignment deviation, wear of the nut balls, or bending of the screw rod;
Solution: Re-calibrate the installation accuracy, inspect the wear condition of the nut, and in severe cases, replace the nut or the screw rod.
3. Decrease in Accuracy: Focus on Errors and Maintenance
Reason: Accumulation of lead error, deformation of the screw rod or damage to the bearings;
Solution: Regularly check the accuracy, correct the straightness of the screw rod, replace the damaged bearings, and keep it clean and lubricated.
Daily maintenance suggestions: Clean the surface of the screw rod once a week, inspect the lubrication status once a month, and avoid running under heavy load and excessive frequency.
