2. Specific application cases

2.1. Medical Bed

The bed's back elevation and leg adjustment functions are independently controlled by 2-4 sets of lead screw mechanisms. With an extremely slow operating speed (approximately 0.1m/s) and a safety feature to prevent falls during power outages, this design ensures patient safety. The self-locking mechanism of the lead screws plays a crucial role, while their simple structure reduces maintenance complexity.

2.2.The small lifting platform for warehousing/workshop

It is used to lift goods under 500kg. The lead screw rod is used with the speed reduction motor, and no additional braking device is required. The platform position can be kept by the screw rod self-locking, which can meet the needs of low frequency and low precision lifting, and the cost is far lower than the combination of ball screw rod and braking motor.

2.3.Manual adjustment of experimental equipment slides.

The optical platform and sample stage in the laboratory are partially adjusted using a manual structure combining "handle + lead screw rod". The screw rod features a small thread pitch (e.g., 2mm), enabling precise fine-tuning. Its self-locking mechanism ensures stable positioning after adjustment, preventing platform displacement during experiments.

3. Not applicable scenarios

It is essential to recognize the limitations of lead screws and avoid misuse: 

3.1. High-speed transmission scenarios: lead screws exhibit significant friction, leading to overheating, accelerated wear, and short lifespan during high-speed operation. 

3.2. High-precision positioning scenarios: These systems feature large transmission clearance, with positioning errors typically exceeding 0.1~0.5mm, failing to meet micron-level precision requirements (such applications require ball screws). 

3.3. Heavy-load scenarios: The screws are prone to deformation and wear, necessitating bulky structural components that ultimately prove less efficient than gear-rack systems or hydraulic transmission.
