What is the difference between linear motor and linear module?

Different speeds
In terms of motion speed, the advantages of linear motors are still obvious. First of all, whether it is the speed and acceleration of motion, the linear motor is faster than the linear module. The root cause is the structural limitations of the linear module, and the way the synchronous belt or ball screw drives the slider to move greatly limits the speed of the linear module. In addition, in terms of linear motion speed control, the reaction speed of the linear motor is faster, the speed can be adjusted more widely, and the maximum speed can be quickly reached at the moment of start, and the rapid stop can also be achieved under the state of high-speed operation.

 

Different precision

Under normal circumstances, the working accuracy of the linear motor is higher than that of the linear module. This is because there is no other intermediate conversion mechanism involved in the working process of the linear motor, and the energy loss of electrical energy into mechanical energy is less, making the working accuracy of the linear motor higher than that of the linear module.


Different noise levels

Because the linear motor itself does not have the influence of centrifugal force, and there is no other additional contact during the movement, the friction and noise generated by the linear motor in the working state are relatively small. In contrast, the linear module that needs to be driven by a synchronization belt or ball screw will make a lot of noise when working.


Prices vary

Linear motors work better than linear modules in many aspects, so the price of linear motors will be several times more expensive than linear modules.


Different driving devices

The main role of the drive device is to provide power,and the linear module generally uses a servo motor or a stepper motor as a drive device, and the linear motor itself belongs to a drive device.
